Presentation and Wardrobe Boxes

Fabulous Ginny Boxes

Below is an orphan 1957 Ginny walker
I found on vacation this fall.
She is shown here waiting for her presentation
box to be completed. We made the Ginny wallpaper
from a vintage logo. Her costume wardrobe
of new outfits are all cut out now and we are
making some special roller skates and ice skates.

Our Best Trunk Rescue

We bought this 1950's rusty doll trunk for a steal
and renovated it into a wonderful
French Fashion Trunk for the 16" Tin Head and stocked it with
our antique miniature collection and some handmade props.
The decopage paper is imported French doll label paper
and very hard to find. We have a little bit of paper left.
If you have a trunk you want us to rescue
and upholster for you let us know.
We would charge $150 - $175 for this type of job
plus actual cost of found trunk or we can use your trunk.

Mini Trunk

Elizabeth's Trunk Doll

This was my great-grandmother Bessie's valise which she probably carried around on jaunts in the 1930's. It housed Barbies for many years and had a couple of stray crayon marks from my childhood. We decided it would make a wonderful trunk doll with this Porcelain kit doll. The doll head, hands, and legs were purchased as a kit from another doll artist. We made the body, mohair wig and all of the costumes as well as finished the trunk. The mohair for the wig was hand-dyed and purchased from a nearby sheep farm during a field trip with some other doll artists.

Current Projects Underway

After Doll Camp, we got busy on some original dollmaking ideas. This is "Baby Edward Goes Out" - He is looking forward to his first neighborhood outing in his new carriage.

Baby Edward is mixed media with a sculpted paperclay head, molded hands, cloth body. The head was based on a 1910 Horsman doll in my collection. The carriage is rescued and trimmed with "Gone with the Wind" inspired items: doileys, purple faux silk and black fringe. As I work with mostly vintage dolls, my goal was not to have my doll look too new and to look a bit like it might have been handmade by a family member. The outfit has a handmade beaded rattle, onesie, slip, dress, coat and booties and it is all made from vintage linens and laces collected over the years.

If you have sentimental linens and laces, we can restore your doll using those textiles. We'll even fish through your linen drawer for the right items to go with your doll and design the dress with you on the spot!

Here are our crazy Christmas Elf Clowns (mixed media paperclay). These elf clowns were made at the request of Old World Santa who needed "elf props" to sit with Santa. They are molded angel faces applied to an original head sculpt and we did sculpt the ears. They started out as female elves, but now I think they look like a mischievous brother and sister. The "doll" elf became quite chubby...still working on body proportions to go with these heads. The puppet is a second try at Kathryn Walmsley's puppet doll pattern from Doll Camp. I got hooked on this style as I like working with dolls that move or have props.

Vintage Replica "Nouveaute de Paris" Miniature Cards
for Bluette and French Fashion Dolls. Hat pins,
Soap Box with Soaps, Powder Puff,
Perfume Bottles. All made from findings I had "around."
This is a prototype idea as I'm working on marketing more of these to use for filling doll trunks. Let me know if you would like one. $10 - $15 each
